A purpose built shredder shreds really well. A purpose built chipper chips really well. Combine the two into a single machine, and the results are only satisfactory. I think the minimum engine size would be about 8 hp for around the house and maybe an acre or less. I have a 30 year old relict from the past with an 8hp engine. But I only chip and shred small amounts of landscape debris around my home. I would certainly go bigger if I have what you have. It all boils down to $$$$$$ vs $.

The first year it was great! The major thing was that we live in a place that gets quite a bit of snow. Dominic was always home to brush it off so that it didn't get warped. The chickens lived in it that winetr, which was a great success! The next year, we changed our plans (we moved last summer) and we went to Newfoundland for a week in March of 2023 and there was a snow storm while we were away and the greenhouse sadly did not survive. So, it does need to be maintained. There were no chickens in it at the time (they were rehomed!). I think that as long as you are there to ensure quick repairs, it will be good to you. Also, do not let sheep in, they will eat all your tomoatoes and you will never emotionally recover.

THANK YOU! I was about to give up and just do a more open fire but it was killing me to think of burning so much of my good house heat wood. So glad I saw this, instead now I'll just set up my cinder blocks a little differently (this even uses less blocks than what I was going to make) and make a more compact rocket style stove like yours.

North Korea or South Korea? You do realize that NK is a HERMIT KINGDOM with the most communist regime state in the world. The demilitarized zone is deadly and super dangerous. South Korea on the other hand is poor underdeveloped and properly worse to live in. People are Korean and don’t understand English. In my opinion if I were one of you, I’d move to Europe and get better standard of living and more freedom than in SOUTH Korea. NEVER EVER EVER menshion NK or the Kim regime.

    • @ODriscolls

It was OK while we were home. The first winter, it was fine because Dominic was always home to tend to it and pull the snow off (we had the chickens living in it and it was great). The second winter, we did not have chickens and left for a week, and we obviously had 200cm of snow in that one week. It did not survive.

Great build. Good work. You can stain the wood, and that provides some protection against bugs in my area. They are non toxic when dry, but some people have their doubts. We have some flying bugs, that nest in untreated wood. I'd also be concerned that zip ties would rot. I'd likely use perhaps metal wire.

This small, undersized, and underpowered chipper may be adequate for up to an acre-sized lot, but it is totally inadequate for the amount of land and trees you have. You should choose a prosumer/pro-grade chipper in the $3000+ USD range, with a capacity of at least 4.5". It's also highly suggested that you get a chipper-only machine rather than a chipper/shredder combination machine unless you have a need to create fine mulch. Chipper-only machines typically have a much larger chipping capacity for the same price and do a much better job of chipping than combo machines.

Back blade is a bad idea for snow removal. IMO: #1- inverted snowblower rear mount #2 front push box If financed an issue, chose push box You will regret a back blade and a back reverse blowerr Driving in reverse constantly gets old within 60 seconds!
